Their story began on August 19th, 2010 outside of Tener Hall, a freshman dorm at the school where Joelle and Chris fell in love: Penn State. It was a rainy August night, the first night of their freshman year, and Joelle was waiting outside for a cab with her new “college friends” when Chris and his roommate walked up to them.
He asked her if she lived in Tener Hall, and she said that she did. Immediately, Chris knew in his heart that he had to ask her a VERY important question.
“Do you wanna do my laundry?” he asked, to which she responded, “Ew, no.” Romantic, right?
They went their separate ways, taking in the rush of freedom that comes with the first night out in college. It wasn’t until later that night, after Joelle returned from the frats and was tucked into bed watching TV with her retainers in, that she heard a loud, continuous banging on her door. Confused, she looked through the peephole to find Chris and his roommate on the other side, sporting big smiles. She let them in and they spent the whole night together.
From that night on, Chris and Joelle became the best of friends, with some benefits, of course. As time went on, they seamlessly became each other’s “person”; they ate every meal together, worked out together, and even studied together. Most importantly, no matter what they were to each other, they constantly pushed each other to become the absolute best versions of themselves. Finally, completely out of the blue at the end of sophomore year, Chris finally confessed his love for Joelle. When he asked her to be his girlfriend, she said “no”, but she meant “yes” and they have been together ever since.
After graduation, Chris followed Joelle to Boston where they shared their first home together. Finally in October 2017, Chris surprised Joelle with a proposal in front of both of their families, and the rest is history.
